Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, and sanctify me. Fill my heart and soul with Your presence. I consecrate myself entirely to You, giving You my mind, my heart, and my will.
Holy Spirit, guide me in all truth, strengthen me in virtue, and inflame me with the fire of Your love. Grant me wisdom to choose what is pleasing to God, courage to follow His will, and perseverance in faith and holiness.
Come, Holy Spirit, dwell in me, renew me, and make me an instrument of Your grace. May Your gifts guide my thoughts, words, and actions, so that I may live entirely for God and bring glory to His Name.
Amen.
The "Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit" is a prayer in which an individual dedicates their soul and body to the Eternal Spirit of God, acknowledging the Holy Spirit's purity, justice, and love as the strength and light of their being. The prayer expresses a desire to remain faithful to grace, avoid sin, and be guided by the Holy Spirit's inspirations. It also invokes the Holy Spirit's compassion to watch over the individual in their weakness, trusting in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The prayer concludes with a plea for grace to always respond with "Speak Lord, for Thy servant heareth."
This act of consecration is a commitment to invite the Holy Spirit to be the guiding force in one's heart, soul, and thoughts, aiming for a spiritual transformation through prayer. It is a formal declaration of devotion and a request for divine guidance and protection against sin, emphasizing a deep reliance on the Holy Spirit's presence and influence in daily life. This type of prayer is common in Catholic tradition, where various acts of consecration are made to different divine persons or sacred entities, such as the Sacred Heart of Jesus or the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to deepen one's spiritual life and commitment to faith.
