Is listening to hillsongs, particularly to psalms, can attract demons.

Listening to Christian worship music, including songs by Hillsong which are often inspired by Psalms and other scripture, is generally not believed to attract demons within most Christian perspectives. In fact, many Christians believe that such music invites the presence of God and can drive away negative spiritual influences.

Christian Perspectives on Music and Spirits

Worship Invites God's Presence: Scripture suggests that God "inhabits the praises of His people" (Psalm 22:3). Therefore, music that glorifies God is seen as a way to invite the Holy Spirit and create an atmosphere where demonic spirits are uncomfortable and depart. An example cited in the Bible is when David played the harp for King Saul, and an evil spirit left him [1. Samuel 16:23].

Discernment is Key: Many Christian teachers emphasize that the primary factor is the message or lyrics of the song and the listener's heart/intent.

Godly Music: Songs that align with biblical truths, such as those derived from Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19), are considered edifying and spiritually beneficial.

Ungodly Music: Music with themes that promote sin, such as lust, anger, materialism, or rebellion, is believed by some to open a door for negative influences or demonic activity because these messages are contrary to God's word.

Focus on God: The purpose of true worship music is to focus on God, not on one's own feelings or circumstances. Music used for self-glorification or entertainment alone is considered hollow by some, but even then, it is the heart's motive that is the main concern, not the music itself attracting demons.

Theological Controversy: While the lyrics of most Hillsong songs are considered scripturally centered, some critics raise concerns about the broader theological movements associated with the church (e.g., the prosperity gospel) and advise caution or discernment based on those concerns. However, this is a separate issue from the music itself having an inherent power to attract demons when the content is praise and worship.

In summary, listening to music from Hillsong or the Psalms is generally regarded in Christian teaching as an act of worship that draws one closer to God, which would deter, not attract, demonic presence.
