Prayer After Meditation
Divine Presence, Source of Peace, Thank You for the stillness I have found within. For this time of quiet reflection, for the moments of awareness and clarity, I am deeply grateful.
May the calm I have nurtured here extend into my daily life. May my thoughts be guided by wisdom, my actions by compassion, and my heart by love.
Bless me with the strength to carry this serenity through challenges and joys alike. Let the light of mindfulness illuminate my path, and may I be a source of peace for others, as I continue my journey with gratitude and grace.
Amen.
A "Prayer After Meditation" is a Catholic prayer offered to God following a period of spiritual reflection. Its primary purpose is to express gratitude for the graces received during meditation, seek forgiveness for any distractions or negligence, and request divine assistance in implementing the resolutions and inspirations gained from the meditative practice..
This prayer often invokes the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and one's guardian angel to help remember and act upon these good resolutions. The prayer acknowledges God as the source of all good resolutions, affections, and inspirations communicated during meditation. It also serves to fortify the individual in diligently practicing virtues, avoiding faults, or performing specific actions for God's honor. The act of praying after meditation helps to solidify the spiritual insights and commit to their practical application in daily life, preventing the desire for change from being short-lived. Various versions of this prayer exist, but they generally share these core themes of thanksgiving, petition for strength, and a commitment to living out the fruits of meditation.
One common version of the Prayer After Meditation is:
"O my God, I give Thee heartfelt thanks for all the graces Thou hast conferred on me during this meditation. Pardon me, I beseech Thee, all the negligence and all the distractions of which I have been guilty. Give me strength to carry out the resolutions that I have made. Fortify me, that from henceforth I may diligently practise this virtue (avoid this fault, or perform this action) to Thy honour. Help me to keep my good resolutions, O sweet Virgin Mary; and do thou, my good angel, recall them to my memory, if I should ever forget or neglect them. Amen."
OTHER PRAYER : " I thank you, my God, for the good resolutions, affections and inspirations that you have communicated to me in this meditation. I beg you for your help in forming them. My Immaculate Mother, Saint Joseph, my father and Lord, my guardian angel, intercede for me. Amen "
