Prayer to Jesus to Be Free

Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You just as I am. You know my heart, my struggles, and my desires. I believe that You are my Savior and my Redeemer.

Jesus, You came to set the captives free. I ask You now to free me from everything that binds my heart, my mind, and my spirit—from fear, anxiety, guilt, sin, and all that steals my peace.

By the power of Your Cross and Resurrection, break every chain that holds me back from loving You fully. Heal what is wounded in me, restore what is broken, and renew me in Your grace.

Jesus, I trust in You. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Give me strength to walk in truth, courage to choose what is good, and peace that no one can take away.

I place my life into Your hands. I choose You as my Lord and my freedom. Remain with me, guide me, and protect me, today and always.

Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.

To pray to Jesus for freedom, one can focus on several key aspects: renouncing sin, breaking strongholds, and inviting healing. This comprehensive approach addresses spiritual, emotional, and even generational aspects of bondage, seeking liberation through Christ's power.

Renouncing Sin and Dedication to Christ

The first step involves confessing and renouncing specific sins that have led to bondage. This means acknowledging areas where one has offered themselves to sin and explicitly dedicating those areas to Jesus Christ. For instance, if struggling with sexual sin, one would specifically renounce those actions and sanctify their sexuality to Christ. The same applies to emotions like rage or fear, or addictions such as alcohol; these areas are presented to Jesus for His rule and cleansing. It is also helpful to renounce "sins of your fathers," recognizing that certain struggles can be passed down through family lines, and breaking those generational ties through the blood of Christ. This act of renunciation is a conscious decision to submit to God and resist the devil, who will then flee.

Breaking Agreements and Strongholds

Often, long-standing struggles are maintained by "agreements" made in one's heart—negative thoughts or beliefs that give the enemy a foothold. These can include thoughts like "I'll never get free," "It's too late," or even identifying with the sin itself, such as "I am a drunk." To break these strongholds, one must identify and renounce these agreements in the name of Jesus Christ, thereby eroding the enemy's claim. This process involves asking the Holy Spirit to reveal these hidden agreements and actively breaking them, asserting one's identity as dead to sin and alive to God.

Inviting Healing and Restoration

After renouncing sin and breaking agreements, the next crucial step is to invite Jesus into the wounded and broken places of one's heart for healing. This involves being specific about past hurts, traumas, or emotional wounds, and asking Jesus to cleanse, heal, and restore those memories and feelings. This can include forgiving those who have caused pain, renouncing self-rejection, and inviting Jesus to comfort and gather the "young and frightened places" within the heart. The prayer in Isaiah 61 is often used to invite Jesus to heal the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom, and bestow beauty for ashes. This healing process may not always be dramatic but often brings a sense of peace and quietness to the soul as Jesus comes in response to the invitation.

Standing Firm in Gospel Freedom

Ultimately, the prayer for freedom is rooted in the understanding that Christ has already set believers free from the burden of sin, the demands of the law, and the fear of death. This freedom allows believers to obey God from the heart, come boldly to His throne, and take "gospel-risks" rather than living in self-protection. The goal is to stand firm in this gospel freedom, resisting any return to legalism or other forms of bondage. This freedom is a gift, enabling a life focused on God's praise and glory, rather than personal performance or security.

OTHER PRAYER: "Jesus, my very meek Savior, I am here standing in front of you like those poor people tormented by the devil you met on the roads of Palestine.

I admire your kindness and your delicacy towards me. I also admire your Divine Power. You have threatened the unclean spirits and have chased them away from men to whom You have restored hearing, sight, speech, and, moreover, You have given your Peace and Your grace. O my Jesus, I too feel wounded and oppressed by the devil’s tricks that trouble me during my daily life or during the night, prevent me from fulfilling my duty of state, and, moreover, tempt me to go away from You by abandoning religious practice and the Christian faith.

I believe in You, Jesus! You are the Son of our heavenly Father, Begotten and of one Being with Him. With the Father and the Holy Spirit, You are the only true God Almighty and Merciful, who lives and reigns unto eternal ages of ages. To free us from slavery to sin and from the devil's tyranny, You have taken on our human nature. You have preached the Gospel of Salvation, You have accepted the Will of the Father, Passion, and Death. You have poured your adorable blood to give us our divine filiation (by participation) and incorporate us like brothers.

I adore You, O my Jesus, and I thank you for all You have done for me and for all men, gathered together in your unique Church, Ark of Salvation. I humbly remind You, O my Redeemer, to make myself and my whole family completely free from the perverse influences of the devil. Renew in us the feeling of your presence and give us joy to taste your sweetness.

Make us submit to your divine commandments, with serenity, fervor, and perseverance, to attain the eternal happiness of heaven, where we will sing with the Angels and the Saints the hymn of adoration: «Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the Highest.»"
