Prayer to Saint Cyriacus for Protection
O glorious Saint Cyriacus,
Faithful servant of Christ and courageous exorcist,
You defended the faithful from the snares of evil,
And triumphed over the power of the enemy through God’s grace.
Intercede for us in our spiritual battles.
Protect our homes, our families, and our hearts
From all influence of the evil one.
Strengthen our faith, courage, and perseverance,
So that we may remain steadfast in God’s love
And victorious over temptation and sin.
Saint Cyriacus, holy patron and defender of the faithful,
Pray for us.
Amen.
Prayer for Deliverance through Saint Cyriacus
O mighty Saint Cyriacus,
You who prayed with courage and authority against demons,
I seek your intercession against all evil that afflicts me or my loved ones.
Through your prayers, may God send His holy angels
To guard us and cast away all darkness and danger.
Grant us courage to resist temptation,
Strength to follow Christ faithfully,
And peace of mind and heart in every trial.
Saint Cyriacus, protector of the faithful,
Pray for us, that we may be delivered from all harm
And live always in the light of Christ.
Amen.
Father Bianco, sanctuary of Saint Cyriacus, Italy says that this saint was a powerful deacon exorcist.
Saint Cyriacus, also known as Saint Cyriac, is a revered Christian martyr and deacon, particularly recognized for his role as an exorcist in the early Roman Church. He is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, a group of saints venerated for their intercession against various ailments and misfortunes.
Born in the 3rd century, Cyriacus died around 303 or 304 AD, having been tortured and beheaded on the Salarian Way in Rome during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Diocletian. Legend states that he was born into a noble patrician family, embraced Christianity, and distributed his wealth to the poor. He was ordained a deacon in Rome under Pope Marcellinus.
His reputation as an exorcist stems from several miraculous accounts. One prominent story details how he delivered Emperor Diocletian's daughter, Artemia, from demonic possession. The demon itself declared that it would only leave if commanded by Cyriacus. After Cyriacus prayed and made the Sign of the Cross, the evil spirit departed, leading to Artemia's conversion to Christianity, along with her mother, Saint Serena. Another account describes Cyriacus traveling to Persia to heal the daughter of King Sapor, who was also possessed. His successful exorcism there led to the conversion and baptism of 420 heathens.
Saint Cyriacus is depicted as a deacon carrying the Book of Exorcism. His patronage extends to exorcists, those suffering from diabolical possession, epilepsy, eye diseases, and against temptations, especially at the time of death. His feast day is celebrated on August 8th in the Roman Catholic Church and on July 7th in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
PRAYER TO SAINT CYRIACUS, Deacon, exorcist and martyr
O glorious Saint Cyriacus,
Thou whom, for thy outstanding zeal and compassion,
Pope Saint Marcellinus raised to the dignity of the diaconate.
In the Church of Rome,
And who, with intrepid patience,
Didst endure the dislocation of thy members,
The laceration of thy flesh,
The torture of boiling water and,
Finally, death itself by beheading,
Look upon us who invoke thee,
And obtain for us the grace to remain steadfast in the faith,
In spite of the temptations of the Evil One,
And to live in such union with Christ Jesus
As to merit the blessedness of eternity in His presence.
O excellent martyr of Christ,
Honored today in all the world,
Let us experience the power of thy arm.
Show us thy mercy, even as thou hast shown it in times past,
And grant us the favor we desire. Amen.
Glory be to the Father three times.
