Dark entities are generally understood as beings or energies that exist in a state of disconnection from a divine source or "light," often associated with malevolence, low vibrational energy, and destructive intentions. They are frequently depicted in folklore, religious texts, and popular culture, though their existence and nature are subject to various interpretations.
Defining Dark Entities
Different traditions and authors use various terms to describe dark entities, including shadows, lost souls, demons, lower entities, dark forces, dark force entities, dark beings, the Devil, and Satan. While these terms may have nuances, they generally refer to spirits or energies that are not benevolent and are often associated with causing harm. Some perspectives view them as "fallen angels" that have chosen to move to a different dimension, no longer connected to God/Source/Spirit.
Origin and Nature
The concept of dark entities often involves a spectrum of existence, where pure light represents enlightenment and connection to a divine source, and darkness signifies a disconnection from this source. The further a being drifts from this connection, the more it embodies darkness. This disconnection is often linked to low vibrational energy, characterized by malevolence, destruction, hatred, fear, and suffering.
From a spiritual perspective, dark spirits can be seen as souls "lost in the fog," entangled in their wounds and repeating cycles of suffering rather than evolving towards light. They are not inherently dark by design but become so due to being trapped in these cycles, reflecting their suffering onto others. Demonic spirits are considered to be at the deepest end of this spectrum, intentionally malevolent and seeking to sow chaos and destruction, representing a calculated and active darkness. However, even these are sometimes viewed as deeply lost souls.
Interaction with Humans
Dark entities are believed to be attracted to individuals who are vulnerable, particularly those experiencing low-vibrational states such as fear, resentment, grief, or trauma. They are said to feed off this negative energy, provoking individuals to experience more of it. This can lead to feelings of heaviness, fatigue, spiritual drainage, and can influence behavior towards perversion, aggression, addiction, and violence.
Encounters with dark spirits are often described as occurring when individuals delve into spiritual pursuits like mediumship, astral projection, or shamanic healing, as these modalities can open pathways to other realms where such entities exist. While they generally do not cause physical harm in the way depicted in horror movies, they can twist minds, thoughts, and emotions, leading to depression, sickness, and a sense of defeat. In extreme cases, this can lead to spiritual possession.
People who engage in dark spiritual arts, such as using Ouija boards, performing seances, practicing black magic, or participating in satanic rituals, are also believed to invite these entities, sometimes making "deals" for wealth, power, or fame in exchange for their "souls".
Protection and Discernment
Recognizing the presence of a dark entity often involves experiencing intense feelings of dread, anguish, fear, or a sense of being watched or unsafe. To protect oneself, spiritual teachings emphasize maintaining a high vibration through practices like meditation, breathwork, spending time in nature, clearing one's energy field, and engaging in joyful activities. Setting intentions for protection, such as visualizing oneself surrounded by a protective light, is also recommended.
It is advised to avoid dark arts and to be cautious when exploring spiritual modalities without proper guidance. When encountering an entity, discernment is crucial to determine if it is "of the Light" or not, as entities not connected to a divine source may offer inaccurate guidance, encourage harmful behavior, or instill fear. If fear or discomfort arises, it is suggested to assertively tell the entity to leave, as belief in one's protection and the power of light is considered a strong defense.
