📖 My Journey to Cova de Fátima — National Divine Mercy Parish

Sta. Rosa 1, Marilao, Bulacan

It’s been a while since I last wrote, but my heart is full and I want to share this beautiful journey with you all. 🙏

✨ First Visit — Registration

My first time at Cova de Fátima, National Divine Mercy Parish was for something very special: registering for Holy Confirmation — for my son… and for me.

While I was there, one area drew me in more than any other: the Reconciliation Room. The guard kindly told me I could go inside, and that no one was there. When I opened the door, I felt instantly welcomed — a warmth I hadn’t expected. It felt like stepping into a little museum. There were holy images, taller than a person, and a magnificent, hand-painted image of the Divine Mercy — created by the faithful of this very parish.

But what truly caught my eye was a quiet, dim corner filled with ancient-looking utensils. It felt as if I had been carried back in time, long before the time of Christ. And there, nestled among old stones and vessels, was a simple water faucet. It felt so peaceful, so timeless.

On another wall stood a towering, beautiful portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Beside it was a single rose petal — a relic, I later learned, connected to one of her miracles. And right at the foot of her image was another faucet. Out of curiosity, I turned it on. Water flowed — clear and fresh. At that moment, I didn’t yet understand why it was there. I just felt blessed.

🕊️ Second Visit — Holy Confirmation

My second visit was the most meaningful of all: the day of our Holy Confirmation. My son and I dressed in our finest — he in a traditional barong, and I in a graceful Maria Filipiniana bolero — our beautiful Filipino heritage, worn with pride and reverence.

Our Confirmation was celebrated by Bishop Deo. After the ceremony, we went back to the Reconciliation Room, but it was busy and we didn’t get the chance to return to that water faucet. Still, our hearts were overflowing with the graces we had just received. ✝️

🌿 Third Visit — The Mystery Unfolds

We returned a third time, this time to register for the upcoming Bible Study Seminar. This time, I came prepared — I brought a 1.2-liter container, hoping to fill it from that water beneath Our Lady of Guadalupe.

While I was there, my feet led me to an old stone well nearby. I felt a gentle nudge to find out more about this place. I searched online — and that’s when I learned the beautiful story of Cova de Fátima.

🌹 The Story of Cova de Fátima, Portugal

In 1917, during World War I, there was a small place called Cova da Iria — meaning "Cove of Peace" — in the village of Fátima, Portugal . There, on May 13, 1917, three little shepherd children — Lucia dos Santos (age 10), and her cousins Francisco (9) and Jacinta Marto (7) — were tending their sheep when they saw a bright flash of light in the sky .

Above a small holm oak tree stood a beautiful Lady clothed in white, brighter than the sun, who said to them:

"Do not be afraid… I come from Heaven."

She told them she would appear to them on the 13th day of each month, for six months, asking them to pray the Rosary daily for peace in the world and for the conversion of hearts . She asked them to offer their sufferings for sinners and promised that God would work a miracle so that everyone would believe .

On October 13, 1917, before a crowd of over 70,000 people, Our Lady appeared for the final time, and the famous Miracle of the Sun took place — the sun spun like a great wheel of fire, casting brilliant colors across the sky, then seemed to plunge toward the earth, before returning to its place. Many who witnessed it fell to their knees in awe, repenting and believing.

Our Lady identified herself then as "Our Lady of the Rosary", and said:

"Do not be afraid. I will never leave you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that leads you to God."

💧 Why the Water?

In Fátima, Portugal, a spring of water miraculously appeared at the Cova da Iria — water that has been a source of blessing and healing for millions of pilgrims ever since . And here, in our very own Cova de Fátima in Marilao, that same water flows — a gentle reminder that the grace of God is not far away. It is here, for us, too.

It wasn’t just a faucet. It was a spring of mercy. A reminder that just as Our Lady appeared at Fátima, she walks beside us still. And that grace flows — freely, abundantly — for all who come with faith. 💧🌹

“Come to me, all you who are weary… and I will refresh you.” — Matthew 11:28

This journey has taught me that sometimes, the most beautiful discoveries aren’t planned — they’re gifts God places right before our eyes, if only we take the time to see. ❤️😊
