The Souvenir Shop at the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy - My Journey

🕊️ The Souvenir Shop at the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy
Sta. Rosa 1, Marilao, Bulacan

Every time I visit the shrine, there is one place I always go before I leave — the souvenir shop. It sits near the grotto area, a humble but meaningful spot. At first glance, it looks like any ordinary store, but once you step closer, you realize it holds something far more precious than simple objects.

The moment I enter, I feel a gentle stillness. Rows of Divine Mercy images catch the light — small pocket-sized ones, framed portraits, statues of different heights. There are rosaries of every kind, prayer booklets, the Diary of Saint Faustina, candles, medals, and holy water bottles. The soft glow of the images reminds me: these are not just merchandise. They are reminders of God's love that pilgrims carry home.
I brought home something small but meaningful.
I’ve wanted a clock for our home — not just to tell time, but as a gentle reminder each day. When I saw the two choices — one with a beautiful church design, the other with the classic, old image of the Divine Mercy — I knew right away which one was meant for me.
I chose the Divine Mercy clock.

Every time I look at it, it doesn’t just show me the hour — it calls my heart to prayer. Especially at 3:00 PM, the Hour of Great Mercy. It’s like Jesus gently saying: "Come, trust Me, turn to Me now."
It feels comforting, like having a little silent companion in our home. No matter how busy or distracted I get, that clock will always remind me that His mercy is the most important thing in my day. It’s not just a clock — it’s a little invitation to keep Jesus close, every single hour.
🕊️ "Jesus, I trust in You. Every hour, every moment — in Your mercy I rest. Amen."
The shop is not just about selling things. It is about keeping the devotion alive. Every purchase helps support the shrine and the many good works it does. As I walked out, I realized: we don't just take an image home — we are reminded to bring mercy into our daily lives.
📜 Background & History of the Souvenir Shop
Where it is:
The official Divine Mercy Souvenir Shop is located at the left side of the Grotto / Holy Sepulcher area, near the Guadalupe Chapel entrance — easily seen by pilgrims before they leave the shrine grounds.
Its humble beginning:
When the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy was first established — with the first Mass celebrated on February 2, 1992 — there was no formal shop. Pilgrims would ask where they could get a copy of the Divine Mercy prayer or an image to take home. Seeing this need, the shrine community set up a small table with a few prayer cards and images. What started as a simple service of love eventually grew into the official souvenir shop that stands today.
Purpose and Mission:
From the very start, the shop was never meant to be a business for profit. Its mission is clear: "To help sustain and spread the devotion to Divine Mercy." Every sale supports the maintenance of the shrine, the upkeep of its grounds, and the many charitable programs the shrine runs for the poor and pilgrims.

🙏 Why It Matters — More Than Just a Shop
The souvenir shop is an extension of the shrine's mission. When you buy something there:
- ✅ You support the shrine — keeping it open and beautiful for thousands of pilgrims
- ✅ You bring faith home — your home becomes a small sanctuary of prayer
- ✅ You share the devotion — an image given to a friend plants a seed of faith
- ✅ You help others — proceeds go to feeding programs, pilgrim assistance, and maintenance
As you walk through the shop, remember: it is not about what you buy, but what you carry in your heart. The objects are simply reminders that God's mercy goes with you, even after you leave the shrine gates.
"Mercy — that is what the world needs more than anything today." — St. Faustina
Until Next Time
